On one fine Sunday, 27 Oct 13, we have last minute decided to bring baby Adriny to Templers Park for a water fall outing. We have invited our colleague Liza and Ismail, amidst the hours of waiting as Ismail went back home to take bath, to looks good for this outing, but the purpose was to have another men to help out on this outing. We had our lunch at AlMashyur Mamak Stall at Pudu.

Driving along the Selayang - Rawang stretch of road to fine access to Templers Park seems a bit rustic memory, we finally made a U-Turn in front of Petronas Petrol Station, reaching Kanching Waterfalls. Many long tail macaques along the way, passing through Templers Golf Course with it's beautiful shady old Rainforest Trees lining alongside the road. Balinese Style Semi Dees, Bungalows kept our saliva dropping.

Finally reaching Templers Park, we park our car & tool a 20 minutes walk up the slopes with our baby Adriny on her Stroller that we bought from Kota Kinabalu. This walk was greeted by those Monkeys roaming the areas. Once reached the "Pool" and had a look at the surrounding, few guys having their packed lunch at river side, ond of the did a jump into the river. Such a big area, only 4 of them on a Sunday looks not so encouraging. Seems we could not agree on a spot at Templer's Park for our baby, either it was too shallow, dirty, too deep, we just went off.

That's 2PM, onway back driving through Selayang-Kuala Lumpur along side the LRT Rail Line, sudden idea came, why not take train to Port Klang, then why not continue further, take ferry to Pulau Ketam ?
Question starts flowing inside the car and in my mind....have you been to Pulau Ketam, 1,2,3, all yet to visit before this. OK, we proceed to KL Sentral Train Station now, no return, at least we really do something useful, memorable, also enhance our knowledge, anyway, we are working in Travel Agency, which ever visit, this action benefit our knowledge.

Car park on 4th floor, took lift to first floor, bought ticket at RM 34 for 4A+1 baby for free.
Once boarded the KTM Train, point 1 start leaving KL Sentral,, then to next, next, next, in total we pass/stop in more than 17 station, this train took more than 1 hour 20 minutes, I dont really cound sorry as i read news paper on board and handling my hyper active girl.

Once reaches Port Klang, within 5 minutes walk to Jetty, just beside the KTM Station, towards one left, you will notice the same old, small KFC Outlet. Walk pass the RailLine Gate, towards your right, this is where one will be able to choose minimum 3 mode of transfer, but all are water based....no road to Pulau Ketam ya.

RM17 for a Air Condition Ferry. 2nd Choice, RM 10 for a 30 minutes Ride to Pulau Ketam on a Speedboat. I opted the later, easily managed to get into one of the Speedboat, mounted with 2 units of Yamaha 200 Engine.3rd option was Public Ferry, heard that will takes more than 1 hour ride. One needs to be careful to walk on the elevated walkway connect to the boarding of boat.

Pulau Ketam, direct translation means Crab Island, latest census reveal that population of 8000++ mainly senior citizen and younger generation below 18 years old inhabited Pulau Ketam lanscape. Young Children can start schooling in Kinder Garden, then Primary School till Standard Six, then from Form one till Form Five. Any higher education needed have to travel by boat to POrt Klang, Klang srea to further their study.

The local predominantly occupies by fishing activities, fish farming for their income. Those who are more entrepreneur, started small hotel on Pulau Ketam. Even you will have option to rent a RM 5 per day Bicycle for you to cycle around Pulau Ketam. This is a good option instead of like us, walking and shopping around.

Once we step foot onto Pulau Ketam Jetty, one will be greeted by those bicycle, electric bike which is not emitting any pollutant to the atmosphere. One will notice of most of the houses are on stilt cemented and some are wooden structure, some are colorful decorated.

Pulau Ketam is good for a Day Trip, or 2-3 Days Stay. Mingle with local to experience their local lay-back life style. One will never regret to pay a visit. There are optional tours operated by local boat operator for Fish Farm Visit. Easy to travel to.

The first few units of shop nearest to the walk way to Pulau Ketam main jetty consist of numbers of Sea Food Restaurant serving fresh seafood dishes. So, no worry about snacks, side dishes or main dish. Plenty of foods around. We did have our early dinner, I would rate their standard, as OK-Lah.

The conclusion is, if you have extra time, say for a day, you don't mind the KTM train 1 hours ++ per way journey from Sentral Station, remember that you got to come back by train, hence another 1hour ++ journey, you are prepared for the speedboat/ferry, Mangrove Forest scenery, Houses on stilt, lay-back environment...fried ice cream, simple seafood, sea produce product shopping, this is the place to visit. I like this. Simple, enjoyable.
